Concerto's Legend - 40° Anniversary
Concerto's Legend is a tour and tasting entirely centered on the history, production and sensory profile of Concerto di Fonterutoli, our very first Super Tuscan. It's been more than fourty years since Concerto di Fonterutoli made its debut in 1981, and this enological journey follows its evolution via tasting that covers the past, the present and even the future.
Five different vintages will be presented in the course of a vertical tasting that aims to delve into the inimitable style and personality of a truly great wine.
It's a tour and tasting aimed at true Concerto aficionados, one that carries with it the chance to join our Concerto's Legend program and to gain privileged access to a selection of large-format bottles from the archives.

CONCERTO DI FONTERUTOLI - TOSCANA IGT
The "Concerto" was born in 1981 on the idea of a viticulture aware of an yet unexpressed potential, that experimented new forms of training and new blends, including non-native varieties too; it was one of the forerunners and one of the greatest protagonists of the so-called "Super Tuscans" fenomeno.
The legend goes on
These few Tuscan winemakers' determination to pursue new paths without betraying their close ties with their region and its history, made it almost inevitable that Supertuscans would successfully face and win their wager. Concerto, a blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, is a perfect example of this. Its unique character lies in the fact that its Cabernet Sauvignon is not just the "standard" varietal; the close bond that it has forged with its adopted terroirt, Fonterutoli in the Chianti Classico region, has allowed it to develop a lofty and inimitable character of its own.
Harmony between two cépages
Concerto first vintage was an outright experiment resulting in only fifteen barriques - the very first barriques ever to be used at Fonterutoli - jealously guarded in our historic cellars for eighteen months. At the first tasting after all those months, the combination of the two varietals proved to be so perfectly balanced that they immediately brought to mind a simphony. In fact Marchesa Carla Mazzei was instantly prompted to christen the wine Concerto.
